Consoltex Launches Its Insulated Soft Shell to Rave Reviews

Salt Lake City, February 2, 2005

Montreal-based Consoltex Inc. officially launched its S3 TechnologiesTM Insulated Soft Shell System at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market on February 2nd. S3 Insulated is the latest edition to the Consoltex S3 family of soft shell fabrics and is the first soft shell to incorporate a continuous stretch insulation without compromising performance.

By bonding Polarguard a full-stretch synthetic continuous filament insulation - to a mechanical stretch lining, Consoltex is producing a lightweight insulated soft shell fabric solution that maintains the stretchability, breathability, abrasion and weather-resistance of a true soft shell through multiple wash cycles.

It took Consoltex developers several months to uncover the proper bonding agent and pattern to fuse the two materials together. The result is a stretch-insulated soft shell providing superior insulation without compromising performance.

"Until now, everyone has limited their use of Polarguard to sleeping bags," said Mario Drouin, lead developer for Consoltex performance division and inventor of S3 Insulated. We recognized that its continuous filament construction is inherently stretchable making it the ideal insulation for cold-weather soft shell fabrics."

"Our insulated soft shell has earned rave reviews from our customers," said Guy Bérard, Vice President of Sales for the Performance and Industrial divisions at Consoltex. "It seems many of the industry's leading designers are anxious to work it into their lines."
